As many as 150 inmates escaped from the overcrowded Tanjung Gusta prison in Medan on Sumatra after fires and rioting broke out. Two prison staff and three inmates died in clashes, and security forces are trying to round up the escaped inmates, at least six of whom are convicted terrorists; some 55 inmates are said to have been recaptured so far. One of the escaped terrorists is Fadli Sadama, who has been convicted of three terrorism-linked robberies since 2003.
