The High Court handed down prison sentences to eight members of an al Qaeda-linked jihadist recruiting cell based in Ceuta and Morocco. One member, Karim Abdesalam Mohamed, 39, described as "a point of reference for jihad" in Ceuta, had been involved in an attack on a local imam. Karim comes from the same neighborhood as former Guantanamo detainee Hamed Abderrahman Ahmad, who was released to Spain in 2004 and is linked to the head of Spanish al Qaeda, Barakat Yarkas.
