Former Gitmo detainee Ibrahim Suleiman al Rubaish has emerged as a leading ideologue for al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Rubaish repeatedly attacks the Saudi government in his messages and has justified assassinations of Saudi officials. At Gitmo, Rubaish admitted he was a committed jihadist who had been trained in an al Qaeda camp.


Al Qaeda murdered a kidnapped Yemeni security official and released a videotape of his 'confession.' "I advise people not to get involved in actions (such as mine) ... and not to be drawn into working for American intelligence," the provincial security official said on the videotape.

A brigadier general in charge of security and a colonel in charge of the criminal investigations branch were among those killed in a drive-by shooting.
