The military said it killed Ali Saleh al Yafei, a wanted member of the separatist Southern Movement with links to al Qaeda, during a raid in the town of Zinjibar in Abyan province. Yafei's wife and two children, and two soldiers were also killed. Three of Yafei's followers were detained.

"We inform our brothers in Afghanistan that we are still alive and well and that we will respond to the Crusaders' air raids and attacks," Shihri said.
