He was charged with aiding a terrorist group, as he allegedly has been attempting to provide foreign fighters for the Al Nusrah Front in Syria. The US military sent a contingent of Marines and two C-130 transport planes with humanitarian aid to typhoon-ravaged areas of the central Philippines.
