The Syrian Salvation Front, a new coalition of 20 rebel groups in Idlib, announced its formation. Abdollah Eskandari, a former officer in Iran's Revolutionary Guards, was killed and reportedly beheaded in Syria. The Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front clashed with regime forces in Reef Dimashq; Aleppo; Latakia; and in Deraa, where they were joined by rebels. Regime forces dropped barrel bombs on an eye hospital in Aleppo that was serving as a base for the Islamic Front. Islamic and rebel fighters battled regime forces in Hama. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham fought against Al Nusrah and Islamic fighters in Deir Izzour; and clashed with Kurdish YPG forces in Hasakah, where ISIS reportedly stormed a village and executed at least 10 residents. The Kurdish YPG denied responsibility for a car bombing of the Lazord hotel in Raqqah that killed at least 10 ISIS militants several days ago. The commander of the Free Syrian Army called for a boycott of the presidential election. Syria's UN envoy asked why the UN has not responded to Syria's numerous complaints about the possession of chemical weapons by armed terrorist groups in Syria and the involvement of certain regional countries in the issue, and urged the UN to hold accountable those countries that have been supporting terrorism in Syria.

The Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front battled regime forces in Latakia, Reef Dimashq, Aleppo, and Deir Izzour, where Al Nusrah has imposed a curfew in Al Bsiri. Al Nusrah and the Islamic Front also clashed with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham in Deir Izzour. A youth trainee at an Al Nusrah Camp in Idlib was killed by a shot to the head. In Raqqah, ISIS imposed a curfew after a car bombing yesterday at a hotel in Raqqah city, executed a regime soldier, and detained 10 Islamic Front fighters. In Hasakah, 12 Kurdish YPG fighters and 11 ISIS fighters were killed in clashes between the two groups. The Islamic Front and rebels fought against regime forces in Jobar in Damascus.

The Al Nusrah Front is promoting a new statement purportedly written by Abu Muhammad al Maqdisi, who denounces the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham (ISIS). Despite being jailed in Jordan, Maqdisi claims to have taken part in the efforts to end the jihadist infighting in Syria. Maqdisi also says he informed al Qaeda head Ayman al Zawahiri of his role.

Senior Hezbollah commander Fawzi Ayoub a.k.a. Abu Abbas was killed while fighting in Nawa in Deraa. An OPCW team investigating alleged chlorine gas attacks in the town of Kfar Zeita in Hama was attacked on the way but managed to visit the town. A top sharia official in the Al Nusrah Front, al Qaeda's official branch in Syria, says that a suicide bomber who recently took part in a coordinated assault was known as Abu Hurayra al Amriki, or Abu Hurayra "the American." The bomber's identity has not been confirmed by US officials.

The Al Nusrah Front announced the creation of the "Baas Foundation for Production and Military Development" and urged Muslim weapons experts worldwide to submit ideas to improve al Qaeda's arsenal in Syria and beyond. Islamic fighters also clashed with regime forces in Hama, Damascus, Deraa, and Tartous. Turkish border guards reportedly killed a woman and wounded two men at Ras al-A'in in Hasakah. Jordan and Syria are expelling their respective ambassadors.
