Pakistani troops retook Charbagh near Mingora in Swat; 14 of Fazlullah's fighters were captured. The Interior Minister said the Swat operation will end shortly and polls will be held in the Taliban district. The Taliban attacked the Bajaur Scouts headquarters with rockets, while the tribes are holding a "peace jirga."
Two suicide bombers killed 16, including 11 police in Quetta in Baluchistan province. Fifteen soldiers were killed and 38 wounded in Taliban ambushes in North Waziristan. South Waziristan Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud said he will support the election process in the tribal areas. The state of emergency will be lifted on December 15. Pakistani forces found a prison and liquor after capturing Maulana Fazlullah's compound. Eight more Taliban, including one of Falullah's aides, were killed. Locals are destroying the homes of Fazlullah's fighters. The Jamaat-e-Islami is offerring "tickets to heaven" to those who fight emergency rule and the fight against the Taliban.
