Seven killed in suicide bombing at Pakistani Navy War College

Twenty-one wounded, including officers and civilians, in the fifth major suicide bombing since Feb. 25. The Taliban continue to target Pakistani military facilities.


Two suicide bombers blew themselves up at a naval college in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore on Tuesday, killing at least five people and injuring 19. The chief of the US military held talks with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and other top Pakistani military officials on Tuesday, his second visit to Pakistan within a month. The US will send a squad of military advisers to Pakistan to train soldiers fighting militants in the country's restive tribal areas.




Clashes between local tribesman and the Lashkar-e-Islam in Khyber agency resulted in 12 dead. The Lashkar-e-Islam raided the town of Shaikhan and set fire to CD shops as well as video centers, TV sets, VCRs, and cassettes. Security forces arrested three Taliban operatives in Swat, including a suicide cell leader.

Egyptian al Qaeda leader reported killed in South Waziristan airstrike

Yesterday's attack in the South Waziristan tribal area run by Mullah Nazir appears to have claimed al Qaeda operatives from Egypt, Turkistan, and Pakistan's Punjab province. Zawahiri is not the only Egyptian operating in Pakistan's tribal areas.
