Police arrested a Serbian man in Pristina last night who had over 26 pounds of explosives in his car as he was driving through an area of the city where diplomats live. Authorities believe he was planning a terrorist attack.
Security forces arrested nine imams and six other people in the second major operation in two months aimed at preventing Kosovans from traveling to Iraq and Syria for jihad. Most of the imams who were detained are said to be affiliated with the Islamic Community of Kosovo, and include a cleric from Pristina's Grand Mosque.
Police carried out some 60 raids across the country in a crackdown on Islamic extremists, arresting 40 men suspected of either fighting for, or supporting, the Islamic State or the Al Nusrah Front. Serbia dismissed Kosovo's claim to sovereignty and raised allegations that Kosovo Liberation Army members took organs from prisoners and sold them. Tensions remain in the country, and Kosovo has been recognized by only 91 of 193 nations in the UN.
A European Union judge has freed a man wanted by the US for connections to the North Carolina terror ring led by Daniel Patrick Boyd. Bajram Asllani is wanted by the US for providing material support to the terror group, which plotted to attack the US Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va.
