[Update 2] Ayman al Zawahri issued an audiotape where he called on Muslims to enter jihad against Israel for sealing off the Gaza Strip. He blamed Arab governments fr the plight of Palestinians. "The sons of the nation should break the shackles of the treacherous regimes [of the Middle East] and move to wage jihad, which has become a duty."




Mustafa Abu Yazid, al Qaeda's leader in Afghanistan, took credit for the bombing of the Danish embassy in Islamabad that wounded eight Pakistanis and wounded more than 30. The attack was a "revenge against the infidel government ... of Denmark which published degrading drawings of the prophet ... and refused to apologize but continued" to publish the cartoons.
