President Karzai threatened to attack Baitullah Mehsud inside Pakistan. "When they cross the territory from Pakistan to come and kill Afghans and kill coalition troops, it exactly gives us the right to go back and do the same," Karzai said. Afghan and Coalition forces killed 15 Taliban in Kandahar while tracking down escaped prisoners. Coalition forces killed "several" Taliban in Helmand province during a search for a weapons smuggler.

The Taliban attacked Sarposa prison in Kandahar, freeing an estimated 400 Taliban prisoners.
