US Marine Lance Corporal Blas Trevino, who was shot in the stomach, "clutches the gunshot wound while gesturing toward his troops as he runs to the medevac helicopter," according to an AP caption. Trevino, who is with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, was wounded and medevac'ed in Sangin district, Helmand province, Afghanistan.

The Army's Task Force Lift "Dust Off," Charlie Company 1-214 Aviation Regiment, "needed two attempts to get him out as the crew was fired on and took five rounds of bullets in the aircraft's tail." An Associated Press slideshow of the event can be found at The Washington Post. Photos by Anja Niedringhaus / AP.
