Marines with the 1st Battalion of the 2nd Marine Regiment spar in front of an audience of Afghan soldiers and other Marines in the Salaam Bazaar last July. The now-demolished Taliban weapons and opium bazaar in Now Zad district, Helmand province, was named after Hajji Salaam, a local drug lord and a prominent Taliban financier.
