FORWARD OPERATING BASE TILLMAN, AFGHANISTAN: On March 8, Task Force Phoenix Embedded Tactical Trainer Captain Navarro and his Afghan National Army squad patrolled the area around Forward Operating Base Tillman for known terrorist who had been operating in the area. While on patrol the area, the squad found evidence of recent Taliban presence. Their contact with the locals who live close to the Pakistan border highlights the complexities of counterinsurgency in eastern Afghanistan.
